Pause in otherworldly places, made famous by scenes in ‘Lord of the Rings’; look for trout in crystal-clear waters; even lose track of time listening to the rare bird life when your guide quiets the engine for a spell to let the current take over.

- Disembark to explore the native bush beyond the beach as you learn about the local flora and fauna while breathing in the ancient beech forest of Fiordland National Park.

How the Journey Unfolds
- Meet at our office in the centre of town to get kitted up
- Take a quick 7 min bus ride to the boat ramp
- Hop on the boat and travel down the Upper Waiau River—we’ll stop along the way for commentary and to enjoy the scenery and take photos
- Yes, we do ‘spins’, but we’ll start slow and gain your confidence, as they are surprisingly smooth and fun, not scary!
- Emerge onto Lake Manapouri for a show-stopping vista and serene silence
- Go ashore in lush beech forest for a very easy stroll and learn about the local flora & fauna of Fiordland National Park
- After a wee (secret) treat on the lake, head back up river for more FUN!
- Back at the boat again, ride on the bus back to town or check out our combo options for alternative means of transport instead
Know Before You Book:
- Child: 5-15yrs — Infant: 4yrs. & under (not recommended for infants <18months)
- Check-in 15 minutes prior to departure at our offices – 84 Lakefront Drive Te Anau
- FREE parking & secure storage available at our office
- Allow 2+ hours for the entire tour – bathrooms are available throughout
- The stroll during the beach landing is very easy for all to enjoy
- Departures are weather dependent – heavy rain will affect availability – we will not make anyone boat in the rain!
